The story

Under a drawn-back curtain, father and son sit side by side, the winged guide between them. The verse closes the poem: here father and son are joined in one, to remain together for ever. This is the fifteenth and last figure of the Book of Lambspring, engraved by Matthäus Merian and printed in the Musaeum Hermeticum, Frankfurt, 1678. After the swallowing and the sweating, the book ends in a court scene of perfect calm.
